Publishing is the opening number to a line of publications from MACBAÆs Education Department inspired by the day-to-day educational practices within contemporary art and museums. This first edition in the Quadern dÆeducació (Educational Notebook) provides time to think about our experiences, share what we have learnt and to think about publishing as an artistic and pedagogical practice. As such, fanzines, stickers, conceptual maps, picture books and hashtags become gestures that cause us to reflect on the how, why, and to whom education is made public. Why the need to publish? How can we make ourselves public? What has been published so far? A set of essays proposes possible answers to these questions. Aida Sánchez de Serdio Martín follows the historic tracks of education in museums through a DNA analysis of its thoughts and historical moments; Macarena García and Belén Soto explore concrete methods for æpublishingÆ.
